Because of its heat-sensitive coating, which reacts to the heat, these magic mugs change colour when exposed to a hot drink . When the mug is cold, it is black, and the image is hardly noticeable. But when filling it with hot drinks – tea, coffee, milk or water, its colour becomes lighter and the printed image gradually appears.
The outcome is hidden beneath the black outside coating which disappears to reveal the hidden message when hot liquid is added.
